The Ocelot is an exotic looking small wild cat native to Mexico, Central and South America. Once also thriving in the southwestern United States, their numbers are currently below 100 individuals, due largely to habitat loss. In other countries they are threatened by hunting, the commercial fur trade, and international pet trade. Luckily, ocelot hunting has been banned in almost all of these regions, and in the US, wildlife agencies are working to conserve these beautiful creatures.

As a spiritual totem, Ocelots have a long history of mythology dating back to Incan and Aztec lore. Nocturnal and solitary by nature, those who connect with ocelot as a guide or totem may tend to 'live in their own wold.' Ocelot may remind you to seek out and trust the company of others as a healthy balance for your tendency for isolation.

This beautiful ornate panel is 8x12 inches, 1/2" thick Baltic birch, and has a key-hole in the back for easy hanging.
