A life-long, self-taught creative, I began painting exclusively in oils in 2003 through independent study of the old masters, and later through workshops with contemporary painters continuing in the classical realist tradition. My love of expressive brushstroke coupled with traditional realism continues to drive my vision.

A passionate environmentalist, my work turned to the natural world and became focused on our spiritual connection to animals. My wildlife paintings aim to elevate each animal to a place of sacred regard, reminding the viewer of our kinship with the natural world.

Similarly, my paintings of human subjects seek to capture a moment of shared experience and connection. During the pandemic, my work began to shift back toward portraiture as the world grappled with loss, heartbreak, and overwhelming challenges. I believe that stewarding balance with the natural world—and connection with each other—are the most essential and prevailing needs of our time.
